Frequently asked questions
The basics
What is Parkwise?
Parkwise is a growing map of UK parking — street bays and car parks with published prices, max stays, enforcement hours, and recent availability reports from drivers. Search smarter. Park with confidence.
Is Parkwise free?
Yes. Every new account starts with a free week of access, and you keep Parkwise free by helping other drivers — two quick availability reports earn a free day of access. No subscription required.
Which cities does Parkwise cover?
Parkwise covers the UK’s major cities: Manchester, London, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leicester, Oxford, Cambridge, and Brighton — growing every day.
Which platforms is the app on?
Parkwise is live on iPhone today. Android is coming soon — tap the Android badge to join the waitlist and we will email you when Google Play goes live.
The data
Where does the parking data come from?
Parkwise brings together available council, operator and other trusted source information as a useful starting point for each location. Drivers then check important stable details on the street — import alone is not treated as finished.
What does the verified badge mean?
A verified badge means the location’s stable details — position, category, price, max stay and hours — have been fully confirmed by drivers on the street (3/3). Locations still being checked show their actual state, such as 0/3 or 2/3 verified.
How fresh is the availability information?
Drivers report recent availability as they arrive and leave. That is a community update in the app, not a sensor feed or a guarantee of a free space. When reports go stale, the marker returns to neutral rather than showing outdated certainty.
What if the map is wrong?
Report it in the app — wrong price, wrong hours, wrong location, or no longer parking. Parkwise flags the information for further verification; a single report does not silently overwrite trusted details. You earn points once your report is confirmed.
Earning access
How do I earn free access?
Report live availability (+15 points), verify details on-site (+25 points), report wrong information (+10 points once confirmed), or add missing locations (+100 points once verified). 30 points converts into a free day of access.
Why do some rewards say pending?
High-impact contributions — new locations, corrections — release their points once other drivers confirm them. This keeps the economy rewarding accuracy rather than volume.
Can I pay instead of contributing?
Yes. If you’d rather not contribute, you can buy access directly in the app — daily, weekly, or monthly. Contributing is simply the free route.
For businesses
Can I advertise with Parkwise?
Yes. Local businesses can appear in What’s nearby? on Manchester area, venue and event guides — with clear reporting on pages, views and clicks. Packages start from the provisional launch pricing on the advertise page.
